The Ministry of Fisheries has deployed buoys in four villages across North Tarawa as part of efforts to protect coastal fisheries.
Community Worker Beiauea Nabibi shared with Radio Kiribati News that this initiative aligns with the Ministry’s strategic plan aimed at safeguarding marine resources.
The villages benefiting from the buoy deployment are Buariki, Tabonibara, Tearinibai, and Nuatabu.
The operation was carried out by officers from the Ministry of Fisheries, in collaboration with officials from the Community-Based Fisheries Management (CBFM) project, villagers, and a Fisheries Extension Officer.
