Three fishermen from Betio have returned after spending a day fishing, having set out on September 30, 2024. The fishermen are Toauru Tabokai, 26, Teemaia Arona, 27, and Mootee Otea, 18.
Toauru Tabokai, the leader of the team, told Radio Kiribati News that they did not drift during their fishing trip. However, the ocean current made conditions challenging, and when they returned home, they had no catch.
Toauru mentioned that they decided to spend the night resting and planned to fish early the next morning.
He also stated that they had all the necessary equipment for a successful trip.
Fortunately, their families were relieved when they returned, realizing that the fishermen were safe and not in any trouble.
