Birike Bureka’s body arrived on 25th October at Bonriki International Airport, where he was welcomed by his family.
Bureka was part of the crew on the Japanese fishing vessel Miya Maru 18 and tragically died while working.
As his body was brought off the plane, his children and wife held a framed photo of him in tribute.
According to an announcements regarding his memorial, Birike’s body will remain at his family home in Tengaruru for a while before being taken back to his parents, Bureka and Tuutu, on Beru Island.
