Almost 10,000 milkfish fries were released back to the wild, Tarawa lagoon today by Secretary, Directors, Senior Officials, and Mr Henry representing Zhejiang Ocean family.
These milkfish fries were spawned in the Fisheries hatchery and farmed in the open lagoon for several months.
This is a way to restock and boost the population of milkfish in the lagoon for improved domestic fisheries and livelihood for the people of Tarawa.
The Government of Kiribati is indebted to Mr Shen, President of Zhejiang Ocean Family, China and their team for the investment in this fish farm enabled through the Joint Venture Kiritimati Island Fisheries Limited (KILF).
