The world cruise ship arrived in Kiritimati Island earlier this morning. Radio Kiribati’s newsroom correspondent from the island, Mariina Iteata, reported that the ship is carrying nearly 80 passengers and over 300 crew members.
To welcome the ship, islanders organized several events, including a performance by the Independent Champion CM Choir from Banana Village.
The choir was joined by a traditional dance group from Tabwakea Village, who also won this year’s Independence celebrations with their performance, “Te Aabe ni Kiribati.” Additionally, KUC YCL Antaai performed a music show using pipes as musical instruments, among other events.
Mariina also noted that the ship is returning from Pago Pago, Samoa, and is scheduled to depart Kiritimati at 5:30 PM local time.
