Kiribati Women’s Rugby Team Set for First International Tournament in Honiara

Kiribati’s first women rugby team will soon depart for Honiara, Solomon Islands to participate in its first regional and international tournament.

According to Kiribati Rugby the Oceania Rugby 7’s will see 15 men’s and 9 women’s teams from the Pacific competing for their place at the HSBC 7’s tournament.

The top 2 men’s and women’s teams in Honiara will qualify and play with countries that have already been qualified in the HSBC 7’s.

The Kiribati women’s team comprises of Moaniba Matimiti, Tekenna Etuare Raiwan, Taara Marouea, Veronica Batiri, Taititineva Raieta, Caroline Mwaang, Tetaake Birekai, Kataraiti Anakite, Bateretia Matikee, Mina Ruth Baueri, Chloe Tiakata Karea, Anne Taake and Atinta Teakaa Teora.

The tournament will be attended by Kiribati, Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu, Niue, Cook Islands, Solomon Islands and American Samoa.
