Kiribati Land Transport Authority (KLTA) has confirmed that damaging public roads, road fences, signposts, breaking roads for water pipes and electrical wiring, throwing rubbish, and other illegal activities can result in significant fines.
KLTA stated that fines may vary, with penalties not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment for up to 12 months.
KLTA urges the public to refrain from breaking roads for their water pipes and electrical work. It emphasized that only the Public Utilities Board (PUB) is authorized to perform such tasks.
