The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives in Christmas Island has confirmed that while there is an adequate supply of rice, there is currently a shortage of sugar and flour.
The Ministry reported that this shortage is due to delays from suppliers, who had previously assumed they had sufficient stock.
It is expected that new shipments of sugar and flour will arrive from suppliers in South Tarawa once the next vessel reaches Christmas Island.
