The Ministry of Education held an opening ceremony yesterday at the Sports Complex in Betio to celebrate World Teachers’ Day, with this year’s theme being “Sustainable Growth and Resilience in Education, Nurtured by Dedicated Teachers.”

The program began with teachers marching into the complex, followed by an opening prayer and remarks from Minister of Health Dr. Tinte Itinteang, who spoke on behalf of Minister of Education Alexander. The event included various performances and additional activities.

In his address, Dr. Tinte expressed gratitude to all teachers in Kiribati for their dedication and strength in educating the youth, emphasizing that without them, there would be no progress in education and resilience. His remarks marked the official opening of World Teachers’ Day celebrations across Kiribati.

The ceremony was attended by heads of schools from South Tarawa and Betio, religious leaders, local elders, members of the diplomatic, government officials, and teachers from various schools, all gathered to honor the vital role of educators.
