The one-week workshop on the Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) project held on Abemama Island has concluded successfully.
Teitirua Tiaon, the Island District Officer, emphasized that the workshop aimed to equip islanders and the local Disaster Management Committee with essential skills to tackle challenges related to climate change and disasters. Participants learned effective coping strategies to implement before, during, and after emergencies, including first aid techniques and methods for managing potential diseases or viruses.
The training was facilitated by Live and Learn Kiribati and received support from various organizations, including the Office of the President, Kiribati Police, Kiribati Red Cross Society, and the Kiribati Women and Children Support Center.
The workshop was funded by US Aid.
