A team from CFD led by Dr Satoshi san visited Nuotaea in Abaiaing on the 21st September 2024 to conduct a consultation on the Seaweed Blue Carbon Project.

A statement from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development said the aim of this project is to determine the quantity of carbon absorbed by the seaweed farming operation in Abaiaing.

The project would introduce new farming techniques that would help increase the seaweed production.

This 3-year (2023-2025) project is funded by the Government of Japan
